The Mary Ryan Foundation

Welcome!

The Mary Ryan Foundation (MRF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide relief and assistance to impoverished communities within Tanzania and to provide support to orphans and children of single parents within those communities. The Mary Ryan Foundation was formed out of a need identified by, Michelle Santoro, who is currently a Peace Corps volunteer in the village of Ilembo, Tanzania. Michelle's friends and family have been inspired by her work in Ilembo, and have decided to do what they can to support the people of this village from the U.S. The Mary Ryan Foundation is named after Michelle's grandmother, "Mommom," because of the love she had for all children.

The MRF will: identify and provide financial support for tuition and educational materials to other students in Tanzania; provide direct funding to schools to improve the quality of education in Tanzania; and work continuously with Michelle to identify and address needs of various Tanzanian communities. We will be able to see the immediate impact of our financial support through Michelle's eyes, but our goal is to establish the MRF as a lasting presence in Tanzania beyond Michelle's service in the Peace Corps.
